Biosilk Silk Therapy Shampoo & Conditioner Review
I was first drawn towards trying Biosilk's Silk Therapy shampoo and conditioner because of their clean ingredients. I love that Biosilk’s Silk Therapy shampoo is sulfate-free, silicone-free, and gluten-free. Both the shampoo and conditioner are paraben-free. It's so important to me when products prioritize ingredients that are gentler on both the environment and my health. Because it’s sulfate-free, I feel safe using it with my balayage hair. The packaging doesn’t specify that it’s color-safe, but I haven’t noticed any fading issues.
After using these, I’ve noticed that my hair stays looking fresh for more than a day after washing. I typically wash my hair every second or third day, but even if I skip a wash or don’t wash it after the gym, it doesn’t get greasy. Some shampoos, especially those with sulfates, tend to make my scalp oilier, but this one keeps it balanced. Who wants to wash their hair and have it look worse afterwards? My hair and scalp feel very clean after shampooing, and it does a great job at removing grease and product buildup without over-stripping.
The conditioner is a quick rinse-out formula, which makes it a great time saver since I don’t have to leave it in for several minutes. That said, it’s especially impressive how well it detangles my hair while I’m still in the shower. I’ve used deep conditioners before that still leave me working through tangles afterwards, so when a conditioner smooths everything out mid-shower, that’s a great sign. The only downside is that I have to use quite a bit of product compared to other conditioners I’ve tried—it definitely takes a few squeezes of the bottle. Because of that, the conditioner is definitely going to run out faster than the shampoo.
In terms of fragrance, it’s light and pleasantly herbal. I would best describe it as refreshing without being overpowering. Unlike some brands such as Herbal Essences, this scent feels more natural and subtle. I also love that the fragrance lingers gently in my hair even after rinsing.
One of the reasons I wouldn’t give it a full score of five lipsticks is because it doesn’t give my hair the glossy sheen that other products do. A shampoo and conditioner duo that would make my Hits List would give me that fresh-out-of-the-salon look. And trust me, some products do that! While Biosilk doesn’t completely tame frizz or deliver that high-shine finish, it does give my hair a little extra volume, which keeps it from looking flat. Overall, it’s a nice reliable duo that leaves my hair feeling clean and light.
A few extra details I appreciate: it’s made in the USA (not in a sweatshop halfway around the world), and the bottle design has a lovely, sleek silhouette with a neutral, classy vibe. I just wish the packaging were a bit more eco-friendly. But let's be real, most brands have not hopped on the clean packaging bandwagon yet! On the bright side, it’s available in a generous 34 fl oz / 1 L size, which retails for about $100 USD (roughly $137 CAD). I think that’s a fair price for such a large size, especially since it lasts quite a while, even with regular use. But to be honest, I am more likely to grab this duo when they are on sale!
Final Verdict
I give this duo 3.5 lipsticks out of five! A clean, gentle, and balanced duo that adds light volume and detangles beautifully, but falls short on the glossy, frizz-free finish promised by its name.

I guess it speaks volumes of a product if you are willing to spend the time taken to provide such a detailed review. Kudos to you.
