Luseta Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner Review: Sulfate-Free, Affordable, but Slightly Drying
I decided to try Luseta’s Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner because I’d heard it was a sulfate-free duo designed to smooth frizz and strengthen hair. I always gravitate toward formulas that are gentler on the scalp, so I was curious to see how this budget-friendly option compared to some of my salon favourites. Both products are sulfate-free and labelled as colour-safe, which is a must for me since I have demi-permanent hair colour. However, I have noticed some fading over time, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone trying to stretch the life of their dye.
The shampoo has a pearly pink colour and a texture that immediately reminded me of that slippery hand soap you find in public washrooms. The fragrance gives off a similar vibe—it’s quite chemically floral, which isn’t my favourite, but it’s not overpowering. The nice thing is that it doesn’t take much product to get a really thorough cleanse. It cuts through oil easily and leaves my scalp feeling fresh without over-stripping. I typically wash my hair every two to three days, and this shampoo does a great job of keeping it from looking greasy in between washes.
The conditioner, on the other hand, has a thinner, creamy consistency that spreads easily through my hair. I love that it detangles so quickly, I can feel it working almost immediately in the shower, which makes it a real time-saver. It smooths frizz and helps tame flyaways without needing to be left in for long. A little goes a long way, though when I use it with the shampoo, my hair sometimes feels slightly weighed down afterward.
After blow-drying, I’ve noticed my ends tend to feel a bit dry, so I usually follow up with a lightweight hair oil or leave-in cream to restore softness and shine. Sometimes I really enjoy using this duo, especially when I want my hair to feel extra clean, but I do find I need to layer in other treatments to get my hair looking its best.
As for the packaging, the bottles are sturdy and the pump design works perfectly. I just wish Luseta would make their packaging more environmentally friendly—it’s a small detail, but one I always appreciate when brands get right.
Price-wise, the Luseta Biotin & Collagen Shampoo and Conditioner retail for about $25–$30 CAD per 500 mL bottle, and they can often be found for less as a set at Winners or Amazon. It’s definitely one of the more affordable sulfate-free options out there, even if it doesn’t quite deliver the luxe finish of higher-end products.
Overall, this is a nice everyday option for normal to oily hair types or anyone looking for a sulfate-free cleanser that leaves hair smooth and manageable. It won’t replace my top-shelf favourites, but it’s a solid, reliable duo for the price.
Final Verdict
I give this duo 3.5 lippies! Sometimes I really enjoy using this duo, especially when I need a thorough cleanse or quick detangling. But to get my hair looking optimal, I do have to follow up with richer treatments like oils or leave-in creams.
